Tamim Iqbal: Fit to take on the Windies on Wednesday

Bangladesh have been boosted by the news that Tamim Iqbal is fit to face the West Indies in the second Test in Khulna on Wednesday.

The opening batsman suffered an elbow injury in the first Test in Mirpur, which the tourists won by 77 runs.

Anamul Haque had been called into the side as cover and will remain with the squad just in case the left-hander suffers a setback.

"Tamim felt fine while batting in the nets and we also feel he has recovered sufficiently from the muscle tendon injury to his left elbow to play on Wednesday," team physio Vibhav Singh said.

West Indies captain Darren Sammy is looking forward to taking on Tamim and feels their attack is ideal to counter his attacking instincts.

"I have always watched Tamim score runs quickly. We have a lot of aggressive players in our line-up too. I expect them to come hard at us, but if we stick to our line and lengths, we believe we will get him - and the rest," said Sammy.

"We had optional practice yesterday and most of the guys are little bit relaxed and well rested. We are here to do better than what we did in the last game. We have one more Test to go and we'd do everything to win this Test match. We want to win the series 2-0."
