Sean O'Brien: has begun training again following hip surgery

Ireland star Sean O'Brien is back in training following keyhole surgery to repair cartilage in his hip.

The 25-year-old Leinster flanker has been out of action since July having toured New Zealand with Ireland in June, but has completed his rehabilitation and is already in the process of regaining match fitness.

O'Brien, who helped Leinster secure back-to-back Heineken Cup titles in the last two seasons, stands an outside chance of involvement in Friday's RaboDirect PRO12 trip to face Glasgow Warriors.

He is a former ERC European Player of the Year and will be keen to be back to his best as soon as possible in order to enhance his chances of making the British & Irish Lions squad for next year's trip to Australia.

Leinster have suffered a host of injuries of late, with Dominic Ryan, Isa Nacewa and Luke Fitzgerald sidelined along with the second row duo of Quinn Roux and Tom Denton.
