Clint Dempsey believes a 'professional performance' from Tottenham Hotspur will see them past Norwich City in the Capital One Cup.

Spurs head to Carrow Road on Wednesday looking to book a quarter-final berth.

Having returned to winning ways in the Premier League over the weekend, with a 2-1 victory at Southampton, confidence is high within the camp.

Dempsey is aware that Spurs cannot afford to take Norwich lightly, after seeing them battle to a point at Aston Villa on Saturday, but feels Andre Villas-Boas' side should prove too strong for the Canaries if they play to their potential.

"It's going to be a difficult game," the American told Spurs TV Online.

"I saw the game against Villa. It was at Villa Park and they were taking it to them in the second half so Norwich are a team that does have quality and a good work rate.

"We will have to go there, be sharp and put in a professional performance, but I feel that if we go there and play as we are capable of and perform as we did in the first half at Southampton, we will be fine."
