Carl Froch: Hopes for red-hot atmosphere

Carl Froch believes his world title defence against Yusaf Mack could be his last fight in Nottingham and he has urged his fans to raise the roof again on 17 November.

Froch was roared on by a packed house when he ripped the IBF super-middleweight title from Lucian Bute with a thrilling fifth-round stoppage win at Nottingham Arena.

'The Cobra' again fights in front of his hometown fans in next month's meeting with Mack and he hopes for another red-hot atmosphere, in what could be his final bout on these shores.

Fans have snapped up over 9,000 tickets for Froch's ninth consecutive world title fight, with just 500 tickets left, and he insists his support could be crucial against a determined challenger.

"The atmosphere against Bute was absolutely electric - the best I've ever boxed in front of," said Froch.

"Mack will not have seen anything like it in his life. When he gets in there, he'll be all alone and the noise when I walk to the ring will be deafening, the fans will raise the roof for me.

"I'm in fantastic shape and itching to get in there again. The Bute fight was special and the best night of my career, but there's no chance I'll take my foot off the pedal on November 17.

"Yusaf is a dangerous customer and he has nothing to lose coming here and everything to gain. Yusaf has fought for a world title at light-heavyweight twice and is going to be doing everything he can to prove himself at super middleweight."

Froch is expected to travel to Canada for a rematch with Bute if he retains his title and possible return bouts against Mikkel Kessler and Andre Ward are also likely to take place abroad.

"If the Bute fight happens it will be in Canada and rematches with Ward and Kessler could well happen in America and Denmark, so this could well be my last fight in Nottingham," said Froch.
