Kevin Pietersen's comeback at the start of England's tour of India has been a smooth process, according to Tim Bresnan.

Bresnan took three wickets and was responsible for a run out as India A reached 369-9 by stumps on day one of three in Mumbai.

Pietersen - being "reintegrated" after last summer's text-message saga saw him dropped in the interests of dressing-room harmony - held a catch in the gully to get rid of Ajinkya Rahane, the first of Bresnan's victims.

"He's the same old Kev - energy in the field that he showed today, all day."

"It's pretty much business as usual. I don't suppose you'd be able to see from the outside looking in ... that it's anything than normal," Bresnan said of Pietersen's return.

"I'm pretty sure most of the lads in the dressing room were expecting it to be like that - and that's what it was like.

"Everyone in the know has sat down and spoken about it. But apart from that, for the rest of the boys, I guess it's just like having someone who's been injured coming back into the side.

"There's nothing exceptionally different. He's the same old Kev - energy in the field that he showed today, all day. He's just Kev. It's been good."

England suffered an early setback when fast bowler Steven Finn was forced to leave the field with a thigh injury after bowling four overs.

Finn was set to have a scan on Tuesday evening with an update on his fitness expected on Wednesday.

"We're not sure what's happening. The doc will check him out back at the hotel," said Bresnan. "All we know is it's hurting, and scans will reveal more."
