Hull KR forward Dave Peterson has decided to join his Robins team mate Louis Sheriff in Australia next year and will line up for the Mackay Cutters.

The 20-year-old made four Super League appearances in 2012 and spent most of the season on a dual registration with Workington but had been due to sign a new deal with Hull KR.

However, he then received an offer from the Queensland Cup-winning Cutters and told the Hull Daily Mail: "It was too good an opportunity to miss and I wondered whether it would ever come round again."

He has agreed a 12-month contract with Mackay, who have also signed Rovers' Australian prop Joel Clinton to play alongside Wales international Neil Budworth.

And full-back Sheriff also turned down a new Hull KR deal in favour of a move to the Brisbane Redcliffe Dolphins, who play in the same league as Mackay.
