Auckland Aces lost their final Group A match by 16 runs against Perth Scorchers to miss out on the semi-finals of the Champions League Twenty20.

The Aces needed a victory to keep alive their hopes of progressing but finished on 124-8 chasing a target of 141 against the already-eliminated Scorchers.

The result means Delhi Daredevils and Nashua Titans, who meet later on Tuesday with top spot in Group A at stake, progress to the last four.

Perth had made a total of 140-7 after opting to bat first at Centurion, former England all-rounder Paul Collingwood top scoring with 38 off 27 balls.

Left-arm seamer Michael Bates picked up 4-34 for the New Zealanders, a spell that was in contrast to his fellow opening bowler Kyle Mills, who went for only 14 runs from his four overs but failed to pick up a wicket.

Auckland's pursuit appeared on course during a second-wicket stand of 49 between Martin Guptill (36) and Azhar Mahmood (24).

But Guptill's exit, caught behind off spinner Michael Beer (3-13), was the first of four wickets to go down in as many overs as the Aces slumped from 61-1 to 75-5.

And despite the best efforts of Colin Munro (23), Auckland's run chase petered out in the final overs.
