Lee Purdy believes victory over Carson Jones would put him right in the mix with the best domestic welterweights.
In a stacked division Amir Khan, Kell Brook and Ricky Hatton are all vying for each other's attention.
But victory over Jones - the man who pushed Brook to the limit in July - would send a statement that the Essex banger is a force to be reckoned with.
"This is why I love what I do - being part of big shows, fighting big names," he said. "I love to please the crowd and fighting Carson Jones is going to do that.
"He's ranked really high and, people keep talking about Kell and Khan and Hatton fighting, but when I knock Carson Jones out, it puts me amongst those names."
Promoter Eddie Hearn believes the scrap, which headlines his 'Christmas Cracker' bill on December 8, could be a 'Fight of the Year' contender.
"For Lee Purdy this is a great fight and one we're really confident on," he said. "I know a lot of people fancy Carson Jones to win this fight but for us it's a fight we really fancy.
"People talk about styles making fights but Purdy v Jones has all the ingredients to make fight of the year.
"It's a fight he and I and the team believe he can win but it's a big challenge and Carson Jones took the fight in a heartbeat."
