Jo-Wilfried Tsonga: Will meet Sergiy Stakhovsky in next round in Stockholm
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Tomas Berdych both booked their spots in the quarter-finals of the Stockholm Open with straight sets victories on Thursday.
Top-seeded Tsonga overcame Japan's Go Soeda but, having taken the first set comfortably, needed a tight tie-break before coming through in the second 6-2 7-6 (8/6).
The Frenchman will now face Ukrainian Sergiy Stakhovsky who sprung something of a surprise by eliminating fifth seed Feliciano Lopez with a 7-6 (7/5) 7-5 triumph.
Second seed Berdych was an emphatic winner in the Swedish capital as he overcame Estonia's Jurgen Zopp 6-1 6-4 to book himself a showdown with Mikhail Youzhny in the last eight.
Seventh seed Marcos Baghdatis was the other victor on Thursday and hardly needed to break sweat as opponent Alejandro Falla retired having found himself 6-0 3-0 down.
The Cypriot seventh seed will now take on Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis in the quarters.
