Sky Sports understands Bristol City have signed former Bolton defender Nathan Battersby on a short-term deal.
The 19-year-old saw his time at the Reebok Stadium come to an end over the summer when he was released by the Trotters.
But the young prospect has not had to wait long before being offered a new deal in the Championship.
Robins manager Derek McInnes has handed Battersby the opportunity to earn an extended stay at Ashton Gate over the coming months.
Battersby's arrival is the second defensive boost for the club in the space of 24 hours after Joe Bryan signed a new long-term contract earlier on Tuesday.
