Sam Tomkins: missed Wigan's semi-final play-off defeat to Leeds Rhinos last month
Wigan full-back Sam Tomkins is quietly confident he will be fit for England's Autumn Series opener against Wales.
The 2012 Man of Steel missed the Warriors' play-off semi-final defeat to the Leeds Rhinos back on September 29 with a knee injury.
Tomkins is currently in South Africa with Steve McNamara's England squad working hard in rehab so he can play in this month's games against Wales and France.
The talented 23-year-old knows that staying patient increases his chances of being available to face the Welsh on October 27 in Wrexham.
"I am doing all I can to be fit for the opening match against Wales," he told League Weekly.
"It is a hard slog in rehab and it can get frustrating when you see the other boys on the field training. You just want to be out there with them.
"I have to be patient and continue to put in the hours with the medical team and conditioners if I want to be part of the internationals this year.
"I love being part of the England set-up and more importantly playing for my country is the biggest of accolades."
