Donnelly: Caught it sweet
George Donnelly admitted to feeling a release of pressure when he finally opening his Rochdale account in Saturday's win over Accrington.
Donnelly joined Dale from Macclesfield in the summer and the striker headed into the Crown Ground clash without a goal to his name in 12 appearances.
All that changed inside the first minute of the match though, when, after some encouraging words from boss John Coleman, he rifled home from 20 yards to set up a 3-2 triumph.
"To get the first goal is a big relief, it is a weight off my shoulders," Donnelly told Rochdale's official website.
"I can't even remember much about it to be honest. I think the defender came in and as the ball bounced up in front of me I just thought there is only one way this going and I caught it sweet.
"I was saying to the gaffer before the game about how frustrated I was as I haven't had the chances and he said to me 'you'll score today'. Now that the first goal has gone in more will come - all I needed was that first one."
