Rankings boost for Rose

Justin Rose heads into this week's Ryder Cup match in Chicago having moved up to a career-high fifth in the world rankings.

The 32-year-old Englishman finished second in last week's Tour Championship to improve his position by four places.

Meanwhile, the winner at East Lake Golf Club, Brandt Snedeker, has cracked the world's top-10 for the first time in his career after scooping the FedEx Cup jackpot on Sunday.

Meanwhile, all 24 players taking part at Medinah this week are now ranked amongst the world's top 35 professionals.

Although four of the world's top five players are members of the European team, 11 of America's dozen are ranked inside the top 17.

Half of Europe's 12-man team are ranked 25 or below, while Rory McIlroy remains world number one with Tiger Woods at number two.
