Lancashire have released former England fast bowler Saj Mahmood. Mahmood spent 10 years at Old Trafford but rarely featured this season and finished the summer on loan at Somerset. "We would like to thank Saj for his contribution over the last 10 years and we wish him well for the future," said Lancashire director of cricket Mike Watkinson. Mahmood played eight Tests for England in 2006 and 2007, plus 26 one-day internationals. Still only 30, he will now hope to continue his career with another county. Naqaash Tahir, signed from Warwickshire last summer, has also left Lancashire having failed to make a single appearance.
