Ex-Storm man gives Robins ace the thumbs up

Departing Wigan Warriors star Brett Finch believes Blake Green will be the perfect replacement for him at the DW Stadium. Former Melbourne Storm man Finch is leaving Shaun Wane's team after two years to return to the NRL. Wigan confirmed his replacement last week after securing Green's services for a 'substantial fee' from Hull KR. Finch knows all about Green's ability as the stand-off was his under-study at Parramatta. The 31-year-old also believes Green will become an even better player at Wigan having quality players around him.

Compliment

"Greeny's a great fella and player," Finch told the Wigan Observer. "No disrespect to Hull KR but I think you'll see the best of him here, with a bit more quality around him. "When we played at Parra together, when he was coming through, he was one of the best juniors in the competition and Cronulla snapped him up from there. "It's a great move for him and the club, and I think the fans will really take to him. "I think he'll form a good partnership with Matty Smith, I think they'll complement each other well. "He's one of those blokes who's a real pleasure to have around the place. We have a lot of things in common - we both enjoy a beer and a punt - he's a real good fella, and I know Shaun (Wane) and Iestyn (Harris) were really impressed with him when they sat down."
