The Highlanders have boosted their ranks for the 2013 Super Rugby competition with the signing of World Cup winning All Black Tony Woodcock on a two-year deal.

The 31-year-old brings a wealth of experience to the Highlanders camp, having made his first class debut for North Harbour in 2000 and going on to play 113 Super Rugby games for the Blues and 88 tests for the All Blacks.

Highlanders head coach Jamie Joseph believes Woodcook - who is currently in camp with the All Blacks in the lead-up to the Test match against South Africa in Dunedin on Saturday - will be a good fit for his squad.

"Tony is a world-class loosehead prop and his ability and experience will add a huge amount to our squad and leadership," he told the club's official website.

"Tony is also a good fit for the Highlanders and I know he is looking forward to moving his family to Dunedin to set-up home in the south."

Highlanders general manager Roger Clark added signing Woodcock was a coup for the franchise.

"Attracting a play of Tony's calibre endorses the work we are putting in to continually strengthen our team," he said.
