James Milner: Opened his senior goal account for England in a 5-0 win over Moldova

James Milner is looking for England to put in a professional performance against Ukraine, a side they last met just three months ago at Euro 2012.

The Three Lions prevailed on that occasion, with a Wayne Rooney effort enough to see Roy Hodgson's men to a narrow victory over the European Championship co-hosts.

England's match-winner will be missing on Tuesday, while Ukrainian legend Andriy Shevchenko has since slipped into international retirement, but the vast majority of those involved in a 2014 World Cup qualifier at Wembley will have also lined up in Donetsk.

Milner, who started back in June, hopes familiarity will play into England's hands, as they look to build on an impressive 5-0 victory over Moldova in their opening qualifying contest.

"It will be slightly different but the majority of the squads will be very similar," he said.

Strong

"This time it is on our home turf and we need to make sure we put in a good performance, they showed over the summer they are no pushovers - they are a strong side with a number of good players.

"We need to be on the top of our game - hopefully we can get an early goal again, settle down and play some football."

Milner netted his first senior international goal against Moldova, as England roared out of the blocks and had the game wrapped up by half-time.

The Manchester City midfielder believes there are plenty of positives for Hodgson's men to take from that game, but concedes that they allowed their standards to slip after taking full control of the tie.

He said: "I think overall it was a very good performance - it was a good test for us and one we were expected to win and we did that.

"I felt first-half we performed very well and there were a lot of positives and we looked very dangerous and moved the ball very well - second-half we took our foot off the gas a bit and looked a bit sloppy at times."
