Famous Name: Landed favouritism at the Curragh
Famous Name landed market favourtism in the Group 3 Refuse To Bend Solonaway Stakes at the Curragh.
Dermot Weld's seven-year-old had to concede weight all around to his eight rivals and was priced accordingly by the bookmakers.
Though his backers had to sweat somewhat, the 2-5 shot duly found enough at the business end under Pat Smullen to score.
Piri Wango set a decent gallop with One Spirit attempting to track the leader, but having waited to make his challenge, the winner once again proved himself to be a cut above this level of opposition.
Weld said: "It's a special moment. He's won 20 and I think 19 of those are Group or Listed races.
"He's an amazing horse and a joy to train.
"He works here twice a week with the same enthusiasm as he does when he's racing.
"At the slightest moment he isn't still enjoying it, we will stop.
"He's entered in a Group One in Italy in two weeks' time. We'll think about that, otherwise the Joel Stakes at Newmarket is a possibility."
Aloof ran a career best to be third with Declaration Of War, on his first outing of the season for Aidan O'Brien, catching the eye down the field.
