Stuart Pearce: Will see his current deal expire after the 2013 European U21 Championship

Stuart Pearce insists he is in no rush to discuss an extension to his contract as England U21 coach, with talks put on hold until next summer.

Pearce's current deal is due to expire after the 2013 European U21 Championship in Israel.

The former Manchester City boss has been in charge of the Young Lions since 2007 and has overseen a productive period for England's stars of the future.

He has offered no indication that he is looking to leave the post, but appreciates that he is in a results-driven business.

Taking that into account, Pearce says he is prepared to wait until another Euro campaign comes to a close before making a decision on his future.

"I will just wait for the tournament to finish to speak with my employers to say, 'What do you think?' what I think, and [decide] are we both happy with how things are going," he told the Daily Mail.

"If they are not happy with me, they will come and see me and we will get something organised accordingly."

Pearce, who will see his side face Azerbaijan in their latest qualifier on Thursday, has also played down his continued exclusion from England's senior set-up under Roy Hodgson.

The former left-back played a crucial role during Fabio Capello's reign, but has been overlooked by Hodgson since being offered a break to focus on the 2012 Olympics with Team GB.

"Roy came to a couple of the games in the Olympics," he said.

"We have had a bit of dinner a couple of times to talk about the individuals I think will be helpful to him and the fixtures I feel where we will need to be strong.

"We have not spent a deal of time together but that is not through not wanting to.

"It has just been the fact we have been involved with two different tournaments."
