Tominator: Doncaster bound
Tominator is set to make a swift reappearance at Doncaster on Friday week after finally opening his winning account in 2012.
The five-year-old won the Northumberland Plate for trainer Reg Hollinshead last year but has found it tough going this term.
Soft ground went against him on seasonal return in the Chester Cup while he did not enjoy ideal runs in starts at Haydock and in the Ebor at York subsequently.
However, he bounced back to winning form with a neck victory in Listed company at Chester on Saturday and connections are now eyeing a crack at the Ladbrokes Mallard Stakes, a race in which he finished fourth last year.
Andrew Hollinshead, the trainer's son and assistant said: "Everything has gone wrong for him this year so it was good to see him win.
"He ran very well in the Ebor but they went too slow for him and he didn't get much luck, so it was nice to see him winning again at Chester.
"I think the plan now is to go for the Mallard at Doncaster, followed by the Cesarewitch at Newmarket next month (October 13).
"He stays very well and the Cesarewitch trip (two and a quarter miles) should not be a problem for him.
"The ground might turn softer by then and he can handle a bit of cut, he just wouldn't want it bottomless.
"I always thought he could be a Melbourne Cup type but his rating is a bit short of the required level at the moment.
"The owner has mentioned selling him and he has all the makings of a lovely jumper, he has plenty of scope, but we will see what happens."
Tominator is currently available at 16-1 with sponsors Betfred for the Cesarewitch.
