Kevin Pietersen is set to be at the ICC World Twenty20 after all despite being left out of England's squad for the tournament in Sri Lanka.

The Surrey batsman, whose international career is currently in limbo following the text message controversy, has been revealed as part of the presentation and analysis team for ESPN-Star Sports network, the host broadcasters.

"You can't say 'never to Kevin Pietersen' - that he'll never play again; let's have a little bit of time between now and whenever and give time a chance to heal the Pietersen rift with the England management."

"We're delighted that one of the biggest names is part of our team and look forward to hearing the insights of someone who knows the format and knows the current stars inside out," Peter Hutton, who is managing director of the Asian broadcaster, said in a statement.

Pietersen is due to meet Test skipper Andrew Strauss for clear-the-air-talks after he reportedly sent critical texts about the Test skipper to members of the South African team.

Very excited

He was named player of the tournament two years ago when England claimed their first global trophy with victory over Australia in the final in Barbados.

"I am very excited about working with ESPN STAR Sports covering the ICC World Twenty20 watching England defend their title," Pietersen said in the statement.

Pietersen was left out of England's squad for the final Test against South Africa at Lord's after he admitted to, and apologised, for sending texts about his team-mates to members of the South African squad.

The 32-year-old was also subsequently left out of the squads for the ongoing one-day series against the Proteas as well as the World Twenty20, which runs from September 18 to October 7 in Sri Lanka.
