Yorkshire have signed Sussex wicketkeeper Andrew Hodd on loan after announcing they will not be renewing Gerard Brophy's contract at the end of the season.

Veteran gloveman Brophy joined the White Rose county in 2006 having previously played for Northamptonshire, earning his first XI county cap at Headingley two years later.

However, Hodd has arrived from Hove to provide cover in the absence of England international Jonny Bairstow as Yorkshire look to maintain their promotion bid from Division Two of the LV= County Championship.

Dan Hodgson will continue to keep in Clydesdale Bank 40 matches, the 22-year-old having made his senior debut in Sunday's CB40 win over Unicorns.

Great years

"I've always given my all for the White Rose and wish the club well in the future."
Gerard Brophy Quotes of the week

"I'm disappointed to be leaving Yorkshire after seven great years. I've had 20 years playing cricket and all good things must come to an end," Brophy said.

"I've always given my all for the White Rose and wish the club well in the future."

Yorkshire director of cricket Martyn Moxon thanked the 36-year-old, who enjoyed a benefit season in 2011, for his efforts during his time with the county.

"He has been an excellent servant to the club and has been a key member of the dressing room. He will be missed around the squad." Moxon said.

"I would like to record my appreciation for his professionalism and dedication to the Yorkshire cause over the last seven years and wish him every success in the future."
