Richard Johnson: Joins Derbyshire on loan for the rest of the season

Warwickshire wicketkeeper Richard Johnson has joined Derbyshire on loan for the rest of the season.

The 23-year-old gloveman was recently at the County Ground as cover for the injured Tom Poynton.

He was recalled by his parent county following an injury to Tim Ambrose last week but has now been granted permission to return to Derbyshire for the remainder of the campaign.

Strength in depth

Derbyshire head coach Karl Krikken said: "The signing of Richard increases our strength in depth in a key position for this decisive period of the season.

"It will allow Tom Poynton the opportunity to fully recover from his injury and to regain match fitness before competing for a place in the first team once again.

"Our priority focus is promotion and the addition of Richard strengthens us for the run-in. He has a fantastic opportunity to further prove himself at first-class level while hopefully helping us achieve something special too."
