Eintracht Frankfurt general manager Bruno Hubner has sought to distance the club from reports suggesting they are to sign Paul Scharner.
Hubner claims he has been offered the services of the Austria international, who is currently a free agent.
Scharner is available on a Bosman after allowing his contract at West Brom to run down.
He is now ready to take on a new challenge after six years in England with Wigan and the Baggies.
A switch to Germany has been touted, but Frankfurt will not be his destination.
Services
"We have been offered the services of that player, but we are not going for it," said Hubner.
Meanwhile, newly-promoted Frankfurt have moved Gordon Schildenfeld on to Russian outfit Dinamo Moscow and manager Armin Veh hopes a £1.5million transfer fee back will be reinvested back into the squad.
"I am just demanding what is necessary," Veh told Kicker-Sportmagazin.
"I do not have a first team at the moment. We would not be able to start the season like this.
"We need to work things out, and quickly."
