Josh Thompson: Celtic defender set to be on the move this summer
A host of clubs are competing for the signature of Celtic defender Josh Thompson, Sky Sports understands.
The 21-year-old joined Celtic back in 2009 from Stockport County for £300,000, but his time at Parkhead looks to be coming to an end.
The former England Under-19 international has one year left on his current deal but Sky Sports understands that Celtic boss Neil Lennon will not stand in Thompson's way should he find a suitable club.
Thompson ended last season at Wembley on loan at with JPT winners Chesterfield after starting the campaign with Championship outfit Peterborough United.
Now a number of clubs from the Championship and League One are following Thompson's situation closely.
His agent Peter Morrison of James Grant Sports told Sky Sports: "I have spoken to Neil Lennon in relation to Josh and we are all in agreement that a permanent move away from the club would be in his best interests in order for him to progress his career.
"He has played 21 times for Celtic in the SPL and has over 45 English league games under his belt so for a player his age he has a wealth of experience.
"Celtic have been fantastic with Josh and he has enjoyed his time with the club, but the time is right for a change and we are going to consider all the options open to him in the coming weeks."
