Virender Sehwag and Zaheer Khan are back in India's squad for the limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka.

The veterans were named in a 15-man squad for five one-day internationals and one Twenty20. The tour starts on July 21 in Hambantota.

Sachin Tendulkar is the main absentee after opting out of the trip in the wake of playing in the Asia Cup.

Virat Kohli retains his position as vice-captain despite Sehwag's return, with chairman of selectors Kris Srikkanth saying his team wanted some continuity in their leadership.

Pace bowler Umesh Yadav is back after injury but all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, the costliest player in this year's IPL auction, has been dropped.

Ajinkya Rahane and Pragyan Ojha are the other new faces with Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan and Praveen Kumar omitted.

India squad: Dhoni (capt), Kohli, Gambhir, Rohit Sharma, Raina, Tiwary, Ashwin, V Kumar, Rahul Sharma, Dinda, Ojha, Sehwag, Khan, Yadav, Rahane
