Ivan Nova: Impressed for New York Yankees
Ivan Nova and Curtis Granderson combined to help the New York Yankees beat the Washington Nationals 4-1.
Nova pitched 7 2/3 impressive innings and Granderson hit his 21st homer of the season as the Yankees stretched their winning streak to nine.
Nova, who allowed one run on seven hits and a walk and struck out four, became the first American League pitcher to reach nine wins on the season, while Robinson Cano also homered.
Alex Cobb fanned 10 in seven shutout innings to lift the Tampa Bay Rays to a 3-0 win over the Miami Marlins.
BJ Upton, Ben Zobrist and Elliot Johnson each drove in a run.
The Texas Rangers scored seven times in the sixth inning, including a two-run homer from Adrian Beltre, for a 9-3 victory over the Houston Astros.
