Owais Shah's 31 failed to prevent Rajasthan Royals going down to a five-wicket defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens.

The former England batsman's 33-ball knock was the top score as the Royals struggled to 131-5 after opting to bat first.

Knight Riders spinners Shakib Al Hasan (3-17) and Sunil Narine (1-22) kept the scoring rate in check and made regular breakthrough.

Kolkata opener Jaques Kallis hit 31 to set the tone for a successful run chase.

Manvinder Bisla (29) and Manoj Tiwary (24) also chipped in with useful contributions before Ryan ten Doeschate sealed the win by dispatching the second ball of the final over for six.

Both teams now have two wins and two defeats from their opening four IPL matches.
