Charlton Athletic are experiencing a little wobble in the race for promotion as the two Sheffield clubs try to chase down the League One leaders.

The battle to avoid relegation serves up a couple of potentially important fixtures and there is unlikely to be any let-up in the chase for a play-off spot.

Following one win in five games, Charlton are now only six points clear at the summit ahead of a London derby against Leyton Orient at The Valley.

Sheffield United moved back into second by beating Chesterfield in midweek and travel to a Hartlepool United side with the worst home record of the teams in the top half of the table.

Third-placed Sheffield Wednesday kick off the weekend's programme in the division by entertaining hopelessly inconsistent Preston North End, live on Sky Sports 2HD.

Huddersfield Town are the other side still in the mix for automatic promotion, but face a tricky trip to Carlisle United, who sit in sixth position.

MK Dons are likely to have to settle for a play-off spot after a midweek defeat by Carlisle and next play host to Brentford.
