Northamptonshire have signed Australia's Cameron White for this season's Friends Life t20 campaign.

The 28-year-old, who becomes the Steelbacks second overseas signing for the competition, already has experience of the county game in England having spent a term at Somerset in 2006-07.

Former T20 captain of Australia, White has 29 international caps in the format and the destructive right-handed batsman has an average of 31.60 for his country.

As well as the Big Bash in his native Australia, White has also played in the Indian Premier League for the likes of the Deccan Chargers and the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Northants head coach David Capel hailed the signing, telling the club's official website: "This is an important signing for Northants Cricket's Friends Life t20 campaign, where Cameron will be able to add huge amounts of firepower to our middle order batting.

"Cameron comes to the County Ground with a proven track record, both internationally and domestically in the shorter forms of the game and he has the ability to find the boundaries, as seen by the fact he has scored t20 centuries."
