Marshawn Lynch: Has signed a new contract with the Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks have retained the services of Marshawn Lynch by signing the running back to a new four-year contract.
Details of the deal were not officially revealed, but Lynch's contract is reportedly worth a total of $31 million, with $18 million of that in guaranteed money.
The Seahawks were expected to use the franchise tag on Lynch before Monday's deadline, but that proved unnecessary after the 25-year-old signed a long-term deal.
Lynch rushed for 1,204 yards and 12 touchdowns during the 2011 season, with both marks being the highest of his NFL career.
"We are excited to keep Marshawn as an important part of what we are building. This is what we were hoping for when we acquired him from Buffalo," Seattle general manager John Schneider said.
Lynch was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in 2007 and rushed for over 1,000 yards in both of his first two seasons in the league.
He was traded to the Seahawks in 2010 and scored a famous 67-yard touchdown in a play-off game against the New Orleans Saints in his first season with the franchise.
