Ledley King: The defender is full of praise for Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp
Ledley King is refusing to comment on the speculation linking Harry Redknapp with the England job, but has paid tribute to the Tottenham boss and his influence at White Hart Lane.
The experienced defender - who has featured in 16 Premier League games this campaign, despite his chronic knee problems - believes it is Redknapp's man-management skills that have contributed to Spurs' success in recent seasons.
And the 31-year-old expects the Londoners - currently third in the table - to continue improving if Redknapp remains at the helm.
"Harry made an instant impact on the club and the players," King told the Daily Mail. "We've gone from strength to strength each year - he just has this aura about him.
"We're in a really good position this season and it's the first time most of us have been associated with a chance of winning the League. It's been exciting.
"The manager just understands the Premier League. He understands the players needed to succeed. In the past, with foreign managers coming in, I don't think they understood how tough the Premier League is week in, week out."
King added: "Harry has put together a great group of players, great characters. We all get on well and he gives us that freedom to play.
"That is his great strength. He trusts the players, he makes us feel great about ourselves and we go out there and try and express that on the pitch."
King, though, admits he is unlikely to feature for England at Euro 2012, regardless of whether Redknapp is at the helm, due to his knee condition.
He said: "Mt first reaction, if I was asked to go to the Euros, would be no. I have to make these decisions with my head rather than my heart.
"Any player will tell you it would be tough turning down the chance to play in a major tournament, but I'd have to look at that."
