Harlequins hooker calls it quits because of ankle injury

Former England hooker Matt Cairns has been forced to call time on his rugby career due to an ankle injury. Cairns was on the books at Harlequins after joining last year but spent a decade of his career at Saracens across two spells, with a season at Sale sandwiched in between. He won his solitary international cap when he came on as a replacement against South Africa during the summer tour in 2007. "Rugby has been such a massive part of my life so the fact that my career has ended sooner than expected has been difficult to accept," the 32-year-old Cairns said. "While I'll miss the camaraderie of the great players that I've played with, I have lots of happy memories."
