Westley: Changes was the key

Boss Graham Westley was pleased his gamble paid off after his first-half double substitution helped Stevenage beat Wycombe.

With the game locked at 0-0 after 36 minutes, Westley threw on on-loan Arsenal pair Luke Freeman and Chuks Aneke and it was the former who laid on the only goal for Lawrie Wilson in the 82nd minute. The victory cemented Boro's place in the play-off places heading into 2012. 'I didn't really feel we were getting on top of the game and I didn't feel the momentum of the game was with us,' Westley said. 'I thought it would be best to change our shape and as luck would have it proved to be the change that made the difference for us. 'We try and work very hard and stay very organised and if you keep clean sheets you have always got a chance to score a goal and win the game. 'They're in a good run of form in the last three games. We didn't expect it to be easy but we knew we would have to grind out the points and the boys worked very hard. We weren't at our best by any stretch of the imagination.'
