Tongan handed six-wek ban by club ahead of ERC hearing

London Irish have pre-empted an ERC disciplinary hearing and suspended Tongan loose forward Chris Hala'ufia for six weeks. The 33-year-old was cited for a dangerous challenge on Racing Metro full-back Gaetan Germain during the Heineken Cup match in Paris. The Exiles held an internal disciplinary hearing and have imposed an initial sanction of an undisclosed fine to be donated to charity and a six-week suspension. Hala'ufia only recently returned from a seven-week ban for a high tackle and could face his fifth official ban in two years if found guilty by the ERC.
