Former Australia spin bowler Beau Casson has retired from all forms of cricket due a heart condition.

The 28-year-old, who underwent surgery at a young age for the heart condition Tetralogy of Fallot, has been told by doctors that he would be risking his life by continuing his playing career.

In October, Casson had to leave a Sheffield Shield match between New South Wales and South Australia at the Adelaide Oval after a recurrence of the problem.

Casson, a chinaman bowler, took three wickets against the West Indies in 2008 during his sole Test appearance for Australia.

He played 53 domestic matches for Western Australia and NSW, taking 123 wickets at an average of 43.04.
