Aussie paceman sent home after injury blow

Australia fast bowler Ryan Harris has missed the second Test against South Africa in Johannesburg with a hip problem. Harris suffered the injury during his side's eight-wicket defeat at Newlands last week, and missed the start of second Test on Thursday morning. Teenager Pat Cummins made his debut in his place, aged just 18 and 193 days. "Ryan Harris had some right hip pain after the first Test in Cape Town," team physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said. "He was still experiencing pain bowling during the team training session yesterday and has therefore been ruled out of the second Test. "He has had a number of investigations since arriving in Johannesburg that have at this stage excluded serious injury, however he will need to return to Australia for further assessment and to commence his recovery. "His return to cricket will be guided by the improvement we see over the next week." Spinner Michael Beer joined Harris on the plane home, having been deemed surplus to requirements on the tour which ends after this Test.
