Bravo: top-scored for Chennai
Dwayne Bravo helped tip the balance Chennai's way on Wednesday as the Super Kings got their Champions League Twenty20 title defence back on track with a four-wicket victory over Cape Cobras.
Owais Shah top-scored with 45 for the Cobras, who won the toss and chose to bat before totalling 145-7. However, Bravo's innings of 46 from 25 balls enabled the Super Kings to win with two balls to spare.
The Cobras' score was built on a fourth-wicket partnership of 57 between Shah and JP Duminy. Shah's innings came from 38 balls and included a six and three fours, while Duminy chipped in with 24 from 21 balls.
South Africa spinner Duminy subsequently starred with the ball as well, taking four wickets for 20 runs from his four overs as the Super Kings slipped to 77-5.
However, Bravo helped redress the balance. After sharing in a 43-run stand for the sixth wicket, the West Indies all-rounder took them to brink of victory by taking 17 runs off the penultimate over, bowled by Dale Steyn.
Together with Albie Morkel, Bravo saw the Super Kings over the line, fittingly hitting the winning single himself.
