The Rugby Football League have announced the three-man shortlist for the prestigious Man of Steel award.
Castleford's Rangi Chase, Wigan's Sam Tomkins and St Helens' James Roby are the players in contention for the prize, which is given to the man Super League players vote as having had the biggest impact on the season.
Chase swept the board at his club's awards night following a stunning season during which he helped the Tigers to a Challenge Cup semi-final and a ninth-placed finish. He was also named as man of the match after his performance for the Exiles in the mid-season international against England.
National team hooker Roby, who won the prize in 2007, has again excelled at club level, capably filling the void left by Saints legend Keiron Cunningham, while Tomkins has also enjoyed a stellar year.
He has already been named as the Rugby League Writers Association's Player of the Year, while his 26 tries saw him finish top of the scoring charts.
The full-back, who has won the Young Player of the Year award two seasons in a row also helped Wigan to Challenge Cup glory and will this weekend look to guide them back to Old Trafford for a defence of their Super League title.
The winner of the award will be announced next Monday.
