Nottinghamshire have signed left-arm seam bowler Harry Gurney from Leicestershire on a three-year contract.

Gurney will play for the Foxes in the Champions League T20 at the end of the season before making the move to Trent Bridge.

The 24-year-old is a product of Leicestershire's youth system and has taken 31 first-class wickets at an average of 46.67 since his debut in 2007.

"Nottinghamshire have an excellent squad that is usually in contention in all three formats and I want to be part of that."
Harry Gurney Quotes of the week

"I've made my mark in limited overs cricket but I think I can perhaps be more effective in four day cricket given the way the red ball swings at Trent Bridge and the carry in the wicket," Gurney told Nottinghamshire's official website.

"Nottinghamshire have an excellent squad that is usually in contention in all three formats and I want to be part of that."

Variety

Nottinghamshire director of cricket Mick Newell welcomed the added variety Gurney will bring to his squad.

"Leicestershire tend to play two spinners in the championship and Harry has found himself behind Matthew Hoggard and Nathan Buck which has limited his appearances," said Newell.

"He's had success in 20 over cricket and our batsmen were impressed by the pace he showed in the matches against us.

"Left-arm swing is a good option for us to have at our disposal and we're pleased to have agreed this deal with Harry."
