Chase: Will never forget missed drop-goal

Castleford stand-off Rangi Chase says that his missed drop-goal in the Challenge Cup semi-final against Leeds will haunt him for the rest of his life.

The Tigers were tied at 8-8 in the final minute of normal time during the clash at the Keepmoat Stadium, when Chase lined himself up for a one-pointer that would have booked his side a trip to Wembley.

But despite being in good position in front of the posts, Chase hooked his effort well wide of the uprights and the contest headed into extra-time.

And it was Leeds who prevailed in the golden point period, as Rhinos skipper Kevin Sinfield knocked over a penalty from out wide to end the contest.

"I woke up this morning thinking that we won, but it was just a dream."
Rangi Chase Quotes of the week

Chase still finds it hard to accept the fact that he did not convert the drop-goal and does not think he will ever forget the miss.

"I woke up this morning thinking that we won, but it was just a dream," the 25-year-old told Sky Sports News HD.

"I had a chance to win us the game but, in the heat of the moment, I missed the drop-goal. It's something that I'll live with for the rest of my life and beat myself up over, but that's footie."

Chase is set to return to the Castleford line-up against local rivals Wakefield on Saturday after missing last Friday's Super League clash with Leeds as he was still in Australia following a court case.
