Graham: Hoping England's clash with the Exiles isn't just a one-off

James Graham hopes England's clash with the Exiles becomes an annual event, even if he might not be around to play in it next year.

Graham will join Canterbury Bulldogs at the end of the season, and they wouldn't be obliged to release him if the fixture takes place again next year.

But despite that, he's a major fan of the new initiative, which gives Steve McNamara's side top-level preparation for the Four Nations.

Graham said: "Whether I'll be allowed to come back, I'm not sure. But, if I can be picked, then it would be great to come back.

"I really like the concept. It's something else the Rugby League are trying out, which you've got to give them credit for.

"They've never been shy of taking a bit of a gamble with things - we were probably one of the first sports to have the video technology - and it's a unique thing with the fans getting to pick some of the players.

"Hopefully it's the first of many and it can be one of the showpiece events of the rugby league calendar.

"We've got the Challenge Cup, the Grand Final is there now and hopefully the international Origin can be right up there with them."

Graham will face three of his Saints' team-mates on Friday night in Sia Soliola, Francis Meli and Tony Puletua and can see why the bookmakers make the Exiles favourites.

"They'll be a quality side. They have some freescoring wingers, great half-backs and a tough aggressive pack of forwards so we're going to have to put in a really good performance if we want to win this game."
