England flanker linked with move to Super Rugby

England flanker James Haskell is one of a number of players to have been released by Top 14 side Stade Francais. New Stade administrator Bernard Laporte confirmed on Tuesday that the 26-year-old, who has spent two seasons in France, will be leaving the club. Former Wasps forward Haskell has been linked with a move to Australian Super Rugby outfit New South Wales Waratahs. Arnaud Marchois, Ollie Phillips, Hugo Southwell, Noel Oelschig, Juan Leguizamon and Mauro Bergamasco follow him out of the exit door. Meanwhile, Laporte confirmed the arrival of English wing Paul Sackey, who recently left Toulon after just one season. Stade have also stated that Argentina fly-half Felipe Contepomi will join the club, while former All Blacks scrum-half Byron Kelleher is expected to sign in the near future. After a difficult year which saw the Paris-based team finish a lowly 11th in the table, Michael Cheika will stay on as head coach with Christophe Laussucq (backs) and retiring Pumas hooker Mario Ledesma assisting him. "(We want) players of character," Laporte said. "We need to find the will to do things together. I got the feeling the players want to control things. I can assure you, that is finished."
