Scotland wing's hopes unaffected after two minor operations

Nikki Walker's World Cup hopes remain alive despite undergoing two operations this week. The Scotland wing had surgery on a finger tendon injury and another minor operation to resolve a knee cartilage problem. But the 29-year-old is on track for Scotland's World Cup campaign which is launched against Romania in Invercargill on September 10. And Ospreys physiotherapist Chris Towers is confident Walker will be part of the squad, who face warm-up games against Ireland and Italy at Murrayfield in August. Towers said: "Nikki has had a couple of small procedures, one to address a tendon injury to his finger and a keyhole procedure for a cartilage issue in the knee. "He will start his rehabilitation with the Ospreys medical team over the next few weeks before joining up with the Scotland squad to complete rehab and continue his Rugby World Cup preparations." Scotland's group for the tournament includes England, Argentina and Georgia.
