Sehwag: Expects to be fit for India's summer tour of England

India have received a big boost ahead of their summer tour of England with opening batsman Virender Sehwag upbeat about his chances of being fit.

Sehwag pulled out of the Indian Premier League due to an injury to his right shoulder which has bothered him for the last two years.

He underwent surgery and was left out of next month's tour of West Indies, but is now hopeful that he'll be ready for the trip to England.

Rehabilitation

Sehwag told Indian newspaper Mid-Day: "I think I will able to play the series in England.

"That's the reason why I stopped playing the Indian Premier League for Delhi Daredevils and rushed to London to get my shoulder operated.

"I will return to London after six weeks for a check-up. I should be fit in six to eight weeks.

"Going by the rehabilitation programme designed for me, I should be okay. I am already feeling the difference each day."

The tour of England will see new India coach Duncan Fletcher take formal charge of team affairs for the first time since replacing Gary Kirsten. Prior commitments mean he will not be at the helm in the Caribbean.
