Chanderpaul: welcomed back into the Test squad

West Indies batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul has been named in a 13-man party for the first Test against Pakistan despite his recent falling out with the board.

Chanderpaul, a stalwart of the side for the last 16 years, was dropped from the one-day squad - along with fellow experienced campaigners Chris Gayle and Ramnaresh Sarwan - as part of a post-World Cup clear out.

He was reportedly unhappy with comments made by West Indies Cricket Board chief executive Ernest Hilaire but has been welcomed back into the fold ahead of the Test series opener in his native Guyana.

Jamaican batsman Marlon Samuels, who has served a two-year ban for his links to an Indian gambler since his last Test appearance in 2008, is recalled - having already made his international return during the one-day series, which Pakistan won 3-2.

There are also recalls for paceman Fidel Edwards, seamer Ravi Rampaul, wicketkeeper Carlton Baugh Jr and opening batsman Lendl Simmons after absences of varying lengths.

Uncapped

Leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo, who has made a positive impression in a handful of limited-overs games, is the only uncapped player included.

The first Test takes place at Providence Stadium from May 12-16 before the two-match series concludes at St Kitts' Warner Park on May 20-24.

West Indies have not won in the five-day format for 18 matches stretching back more than two years.

West Indies squad: D Sammy (capt), B Nash (vice-capt), D Bishoo, C Baugh Jr (wkt), Darren Bravo, S Chanderpaul, F Edwards, R Rampaul, K Roach, M Samuels, R Sarwan, L Simmons, D Smith
