Ravi Bopara and James Foster shared a century partnership to power Essex to a seven-wicket triumph over Lancashire in the Clydesdale Bank 40.

Bopara finished on 75 not out from 81 balls, while his skipper Foster's contribution to a second-wicket stand of 135 was 77 from 76 deliveries.

Essex cruised home from the first ball of the 35th over having earlier laid the groundwork with a fine bowling display.

South African left-arm paceman Lonwabo Tsotsobe found form with a haul of 4-43 as Lancashire wasted a good start to be bowled out for 190 in 36.4 overs.

Opening pair Stephen Moore (45) and Karl Brown (47) put on 87 inside 14 overs before a collapse saw the Red Rose county fail to even see out their allocation.

Tsotsobe was well supported by medium pacer Bopara (3-39) and spinner Tim Phillips (2-32).
