Gareth Berg took 4-24 to bowl Middlesex to a 24-run success over Worcestershire in their Clydesdale Bank 40 opener at New Road.

Pears opener Vikram Solanki set his side's pursuit of 207 up nicely with 61 off 58 balls.

But, from 97-1 in the 17th over, Berg was the main destroyer as Worcestershire collapsed to 182 all out with seven of the final eight batsmen making single-figure contributions.

James Cameron was last out for 41, bowled by Tim Murtagh (2-29) with 10 balls of the innings remaining.

Berg had also chipped in with 31 with the bat earlier in the day as the Panthers were all out for 206 in the final over after opting to bat first.

Skipper Neil Dexter's 48 was the top score as all of the top six at least made a start.

Seam bowler Gareth Andrew was the most successful member of the Worcestershire attack with 3-42.

Middlesex have now won their opening three matches of the season having started with back-to-back victories to sit top of LV County Championship Division Two.
