Forward facing two-game ban, team-mate Leuluai in the clear

Leeds prop Ryan Bailey could find himself hit with a two-match ban after being charged with punching two opponents. The Rhinos forward has been summoned to appear before the Rugby Football League's disciplinary panel on Tuesday after he was sent off in his side's 38-6 defeat to Huddersfield at Headingley last Friday night. Bailey was given his marching orders for his part in an all-in brawl that also led to Luke O'Donnell being dismissed for the visitors. After the match Giants coach Nathan Brown blasted the decision of referee Ben Thaler to show his player a red card, claiming the second rower ought to have "knocked Bailey out cold" for hitting Huddersfield skipper Kevin Brown. The RFL's match review panel accepted that, although O'Donnell escalated the situation by running into the melee, he did not throw a punch. It was therefore decided that he should face no further punishment.

Brown charged

Team-mate Brown, however, has been charged with fighting, a grade A offence which carries a maximum punishment of a one-match ban. The stand-off was on the wrong end of a late tackle from Leeds prop Kylie Leuluai in the same game, though the panel ruled that, while it was a late hit, contact was not high or dangerous. Wigan prop Jeff Lima also escaped after being put on a report for a suspect tackle on Hull KR centre Jack Webster in his side's 28-16 win at Craven Park. The panel ruled that the footage was not clear enough to determine the point of contact or whether Lima, who has already been suspended twice this season, put his opponent's knee joint at unnecessary risk of injury. Meanwhile, Catalan Dragons duo Sebastian Raguin and Gregory Mounis both received cautions for dangerous play during their team's victory against Hull. Cautions were also handed out to Bradford's Gareth Raynor and Lincoln Withers of Crusaders after the latest round of Super League fixtures.
