Broad: signed a three-year contract extension with Nottinghamshire

Stuart Broad has committed himself to Nottinghamshire until at least 2013 after signing a new three-year contract, it was announced on Tuesday.

The England seamer's international commitments, however, mean that the deal will only come into force in the unlikely event he loses his central contract.

Nottinghamshire director of cricket Mick Newell told theBBC: "We fully expect Stuart will maintain his England place for years to come but this re-affirms his commitment to us.

"We knew he was in the England selectors' thoughts when we signed him in 2008. Although his county appearances have been limited, he has always performed exceptionally well when he's turned out for us."

"I love playing for Notts, I love living around the Nottingham area and my deal ran out in September so I wanted to get that sorted and extend my stay here."

Recovered

To date, Broad has played just seven County Championship games for Nottinghamshire and four more in limited-overs competition, including last year's t20 finals day.

The 24-year-old suffered a broken rib which forced him to return home early from this year's World Cup, however he is hopeful of returning in time to face Yorkshire in early May.

"I've pretty much recovered from my broken rib. I'm looking forward to getting going again against Yorkshire on May 4," Broad told Sky Sports News.

"Hopefully my central contract will keep coming for many years to come, but I love playing for Notts, I love living around the Nottingham area and my deal ran out in September so I wanted to get that sorted and extend my stay here.

"Every time I come back I love playing at Trent Bridge and it's crucial that I look to make an impact when I do play."
